● Standardised test whose score is often required by universities and colleges for application.
● Especially valuable for international university applications as it can be taken in most locations around the world and provides a benchmark by which institutions can compare student readiness despite differences in education systems in different countries.
● Students across almost all countries take the SAT to apply to universities in the U.S. and to universities in almost 70 countries across the globe.
● There are over 4,000 universities and colleges all over the world that accept SAT scores for admission.
How is the SAT structured?
● The SAT has two sections: English (Reading and Writing) and Maths.
● Each section is made up of two modules to be taken in order. Students cannot go back to previous sections or modules once they submit a module or section.
● Test takes over 2 hours.
How is the SAT taken and scored?
● The SAT is almost exclusively digital (except for special circumstances which need to be documented) and taken via College Board’s Bluebook app.
● Bluebook uses adaptive technology that measures student performances in Module 1 of both English (Reading and Writing) and Maths. If students do well in the first module, they get a harder second module, which enables them to reach higher scores.
● SAT English (Reading and Writing) and Math are scored out of 800 each, resulting in a total maximum SAT score of 1600.
| Module 1 | Module 2 | Total | |
| Reading and Writing | 27 Questions, 32 Minutes | 27 Questions, 32 Minutes | 54 Questions, 64 Minutes |
