What are Advanced Placements (APs)?

● Exam-based qualifications that are designed to be academically similar with introductory-level university courses.
● Allow successful students to qualify for college credit and/or advanced placement, skipping introductory courses for more advanced courses.
● AP classes are not required to sit AP exams but are helpful. The classes are taken as regular school classes and each have a 1-year curriculum.
● There are over 35 AP subjects on which students can take courses and exams.

How are APs assessed?

● AP exams are held every May at schools working with the College Board.
● These are scored between 1 (lowest) and 5 (highest), with a minimum of 3 to pass.
